2007 CCMMC Ride
Ride Dates: The ride dates will be March
24th and 25th. Rides will begin at 9am sharp at the main CCMMC entrance.
Location: East Tennessee near Oliver
Springs. Go to Google Maps and type in Windrock Rd, Oliver Springs TN 37840.
This will get you to the turn off of Hwy 62. Stay on Windrock Rd until you reach
the gravel parking area. It’s residential, so keep the speed down.
Background: This land is owned by Coal Creek
Mining and Manufacturing Company (CCMMC) and has been open since January 1,
2001. A local ATV club has been instrumental in helping CCMMC make the land
available to 4-wheeling and ATV enthusiasts. Go to
http://www.windrockatv.com/ for more information and as well as
here.
Terrain and Trails: This area consists of
mud, hill climbs, and some rocks. The maps
here include trail ratings and lengths. All trails are pretty well marked
and the ratings are accurate. For those extremists of the bunch, you can try
your hand at Rattle Rock where rock crawling competitions have been held. Some
trails are a bit tight, but full size rigs can negotiate them. Tall vehicles
(>7’6”) may have to deal with low branches.
ORV Fees: The fees are $15 per day or $80
for a year pass. These can be purchased at the main entrance, in the town of
Oliver Springs, or online.
Lodging: Click
here for lodging in the area including campgrounds.
I haven’t decided where I’m staying yet, but you can email me
if you want to coordinate.
Ride Requirements: Basic safety and recovery
equipment is required, including a decent spare tire and any spare parts that
your vehicle is prone to breaking. Make sure you have suitable recovery points
on your rig.
Contact and Coordination: Please contact me,
Kimball Shahrokhi, for information and coordination for this ride (kshahrokhi@nc.rr.com).
Oliver Springs will have the last gas, air, and food before hitting the trails.
Any person who wants to attend but doesn’t want to ride will be linked up with
an open seat, if available.
